The expanded Jeddah International Airport is envisioned as a dynamic intermodal hub supporting the Kingdom’s economic development and growth plans — serving as a regional gateway to 80 million passengers a year, with quality facilities delivered for passengers, tenants and operators in an efficient, financially sound and environmentally responsible manner.
The Al-Madina (Prince Mohammad Bin AbdulAziz) terminal expansion, under the General Authority of Civil Aviation, increases Hajj terminal capacity to an estimated 5 million passengers — a 131,000-square-foot terminal facility with departure/arrival levels, service counters, immigration stations, baggage handling, flight information systems, and sophisticated security and screening equipment. The broader airport expansion adds a second runway and a new 840,000-square-foot passenger lounge, alongside renovation of the existing runway and new commercial/retail areas.
FTR NV provides construction management services for the Saudi Aviation Flight Academy (SAFA) at Thumamah Airport — a 50,000 m² campus training professional and recreational pilots to international standards. The academy opened with 36 students and is planned to grow to 200 students per year. Phase one includes the flight school, a new maintenance hangar, the first half of the taxiway apron and utility buildings; phase two adds residence facilities for faculty and students plus a small retail area.
Voted one of the most beautiful terminals in the world, the King AbdulAziz International Airport Hajj Terminal serves as a gateway to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah for over 30 million pilgrims a year. Comprised of five main levels, FTR NV provided architectural assessment — including initial design review, integrated design/sustainability consultation, construction documentation and value engineering — along with cost management, communications, project workplan, QA/QC and staffing plans.
